Vote for MMP dominating on Facebook

Saw this piece on the Globe and Mail's "Campaign 2.0" blog and I just had to share it.

Apparently, the pro-democracy forces at Vote for MMP have the largest Facebook presence - woot!

Despite the fact that few people even understand what the proposal involves, the "Vote for MMP" group -- which is devoted to stirring up support for the "multi-member" representation model -- had a whopping 1,939 members at last check, more than all of the major party groups combined.

While I could go without the gratuitous reference to the lack of understanding about MMP (which certainly wouldn't have anything to do with the lack of attention the Globe has paid to the issue, so well described here), it's great to know that there's so much support for MMP on Facebook.

Although I'm not surprised, this confirms the great reaction our campaigners are getting on campuses all across Ontario. Once young voters learn about MMP they seem to instinctively understand how it's better than the status quo.

And by the way, the group is still growing at leaps and bounds - it's now at 2,193 members! That means it's growing at more than 100 people every day!
